ABDOMEN

ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND:  Is a study of the upper abdominal organs, typically including the liver, kidneys,   gall bladder, common bile duct, aorta caliber, spleen and pancreas where visible. The surrounding regions are assessed also for fluid collections and other abnormalities.

HEPATITIS: for this survey/ history,  referring doctors should include Doppler for the hepatic vessels, which may delineate occult pathology.

Your doctor may refer you following abnormal blood test results, clinical findings, pain, trauma or past history. Fatty liver is prevalent in today’s society and is one of the most requested clinical histories. In recent years it is even found more frequently in children.

 

PREP. 2. FASTING:  You need to fast for 5 hours before the test, nothing to eat or drink or smoke. You may take most medications with a small amount of water, however avoid those that may contract the gall bladder or cause gas in your abdomen (ask your doctor). Also, avoid fatty meals the night before, including meat, oils, and dairy products.
