DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis):  is a clot in the veins.  These can occur due to many factors, such as trauma, long stasis, blood clotting factors, prolonged oedema, infection, inflammation, poison, family genetics,  and  medical drug-induced thrombocytosis.  Also this occurs with drug users injecting in their arm.

It basically means that blood has coagulated and blocked the vein. It is sometimes partial blockage, and sometimes complete blockage. However, either can be dangerous:-

VTE- Venous thromboembolism is when a blood clot in the deep veins of the leg or arm travels to the lungs, forming a pulmonary embolism (PE). This stops the blood flow to this part of the lung that can cause permanent damage.

Luckily, the upper limb has more drainage in the superficially veins, and DVT occurs less in the arm than in the leg.

DVT can be stabilized, to prevent embolism, and ultimately dissolved.
