NECK ultrasound:  Lumps, pain, discomfort may all be assessed.

The salivary glands are also readily seen an examined for calcui, obstruction, parotitis/ inflammation and masses.

Lymphadenopathy is mapped with levels and morphology.  Other masses, thyroglossal cysts,  temporomandibular bursitis, abscess and neck muscles are assessable.

The rare occasional  carotid body tumour is detected.

A thyroid study may or may not be concomitant depending on the need.

No preparation is usually required. However thick beards may need tidying for the study under the chin/ sub-mandibular regions if possible.
